Cape Town - Lucky Mohomi says he has not discussed anything with Mamelodi Sundowns about being loaned out and is prepared to fight for his place at the club.
Mohomi struggled for game time in the previous season, but believes it was all down to a knee injury that kept him on the sidelines for months.
The 27-year-old midfielder says he is in high spirits ahead of the new season and is ready to fight for his place in Pitso Mosimane's star-studded side.
He admitted that it's going to be yet another tough season for him as he competes with the likes of Hlompho Kekana, Tiyani Mabunda and Oupa Manyisa to be in the starting line-up.
The Brazilians have since added the talents of Andile Jali to the squad.
The Mamelodi-born midfielder was not part of the Sundowns squad that was stunned by AS Togo-Port in the CAF Champions League match yesterday.
Mohomi told SABC: "My problem last season was a knee injury that I sustained when I hurt my knee at training and ended up on the side-lines for a long time.
"But I'm now fine and fit. I'm looking forward to the new season. I have not talked with Sundowns about going on loan. I know nothing about it.
"My desire is to obviously stay and fight for my place in the team.
"It's very tough because I compete with players who are regulars for the national team.
"I have to raise my game and work harder because I also deserve to be at the team, but playing with them is a motivation to prove myself."
