SuperSport United midfielder Aubrey Modiba has decided he would like a move abroad to grow further as a player.
This is according to the player's agent, Glyn Binkin, who ruled him out of moving to another domestic side in the near future.
The news comes as a blow to the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns, who have courted the player over the last two years.
In fact, the two clubs were in discussions about the versatile 24-year-old, who has played as a wing-back, winger or creative midfielder for Matsatsantsa.
While negotiations over his asking price took place, the clubs were unable to reach an agreement and Modiba signed a new deal shortly after.
“Ultimately he wants to go abroad in order to grow as a footballer. That’s what he wants and that’s what we will be working towards,” Binkin told IOL website.
“We will do whatever it takes to get him overseas. That’s where he wants to go and all we can do is to help him fulfil his objective.”
Modiba has featured in 14 matches for SuperSport this season, scoring five goals and providing four assists in what has been an injury-riddled campaign.
A highly regarded player at age-group level, Modiba has seven caps for Bafana Bafana.
