Mobara ready to make his mark at Pirates

Cape Town - New Orlando Pirates midfielder Abbubaker Mobara expressed his delight after joining the Buccaneers in their pre-season preparations.

Mobara linked up with his teammates after representing South Africa at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.

The 22-year-old is also pleased to work with new coach Muhsin Ertugral, whom he has a relationship from their days at Ajax Cape Town.

"The good thing is that I'm fit because I have been playing all along during the football break," Mobara said as quoted by the club's website.

"The only thing that's left now is to gel with the team as quick as possible because it's important if we want to be successful in the upcoming season.

"As players we need to know each other individually, get used to each other and understand what it means to be part of the Orlando Pirates set up as well as understanding where I will play and what role the coach wants me to play.

"I think it's important for us who are joining the team this week to work extra hard on catching up and gel with the rest of the team because that's the whole point of pre-season."

When asked if he was surprised to be renewing his footballing relationship with Ertugral, Mobara added: "I am not surprised at all because he was the one who promoted me to the first team and he has always maintained that he saw me as a defensive midfielder and nothing else."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
