Cape Town - Black Leopards coach Dylan Kerr says mistakes at the back are the reason why his side are fighting against relegation from the Absa Premiership.
A win in their final home game of the season against Cape Town City would all but guarantee survival although Kerr takes the view that errors must be stamped out.
In addition, the former Leeds United star feels his club would be higher in the table if they defended better.
After the recent 1-1 draw with AmaZulu, he told reporters: "We have to be realistic as coaches. In football it's not about playing beautifully but it's about winning matches and we didn't do that.
"We made some mistakes not only today but if you look at other matches like Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns, Bidvest Wits and Polokwane City, there were things we were supposed to avoid but couldn't.
"I'm satisfied by our performance [against AmaZulu], the players responded very well. I'm really proud of them, it's just disappointing because we didn't get what we wanted. I did warn them about trusting other teams to do favours for us."
Saturday's clash against the Citizens is at 15:00 at the Thohoyandou Stadium.
