Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs head coach Ernst Middendorp says his side has been working hard during the festive break to prepare themselves for Saturday evening's clash with SuperSport United.
The Amakhosi mentor is wary of the threat posed by Kaitano Tembo's men, who will be hurting after a 1-0 defeat to Chippa United in their last game of 2019.
And SuperSport will undoubtedly be targeting the scalp of the league leaders in a bid to reignite their own title hopes.
Middendorp knows all too well his side cannot afford to become complacent, and he says they have been working on "several areas" in the lead up to Saturday's encounter in Nelspruit.
"We are playing against an ambitious side in United," Middendorp told kaizerchiefs.com. "They play with purpose and we have to be on top of our game to overcome them.
"They are coming from a defeat (losing to Chippa United), which against us won't mean anything. Their players will want to cause an upset.
"We are ready. If you recall from the last match (1-1 draw against Maritzburg United), we had a healthy 30-minutes where we played according to plan.
"Carrying the ball forward and catching the opposition on the backfoot. We gave away the lead in that game. Going forward, we must play with our intensity and take the opponents on.
"We have worked on several areas during the week and are ready for this evening's game."
