Cape Town - Ahead of their opening Absa Premiership clash this weekend, head coach Ernst Middendorp believes that Kaizer Chiefs are better prepared than the previous season.
Speaking at the launch of the 2019/20 Absa Premiership season on Monday afternoon, Middendorp says that they have done "a lot of work" for the campaign ahead.
"We have done our homework. We have brought in new blood in the team," said Middendorp as quoted by the club’s website.
"I am happy with the preparation and think we are better prepared to challenge for the honours this season
"We have done a lot of work, on and off the pitch. We have to recognise that for the past few months we had a problem with injuries.
"That impacted negatively our intentions. This time we have it all worked out. I anticipate good performances this season."
Amakhosi travel to Tembisa on Sunday, August 4 as Highlands Park entertain the Soweto giants at the Makhulong Stadium.
"We worked with the individual players in the past two months to get everyone up to speed," he added.
"We respect Highlands Park because they are a good side, but we collected four points from them last season.
"They do lots of things right and so it will be a tough game on Sunday."
Kick-off is at 15:00.
