Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp described Njabulo Blom as a 'very interesting player with a good profile' after the youngster was promoted to first team.
The 19-year-old Blom signed a four-year deal with the Amakhosi after turning out for the reserve team in the Multi Choice Disk Challenge.
He was also part of the South Africa U20 squad that came third in the recent U20 AFCON tournament in Niger that ensured Amajita qualified for the U20 World Cup to be played later this year.
Middendorp said Blom could play in midfield and defence and praised the player for his versatility.
The Chiefs mentor said on the club's website: "It is part of our development process to identify talent for the first team. Blom is a different kind of player, one who works very hard on improving his game.
"He could come handy in the holding midfield role. It is nice for a coach to have such a versatile player in the squad. He is a very interesting player with a good profile."
Middendorp also said the Blom had been training with the Chiefs first team since he arrived at the club in December.
The German mentor added: "Njabulo started working with us [in the senior team] when I arrived at the club in December 2018. He will learn more as we go along.
"And, if selected for the upcoming U20 World Cup, Njabulo will also pick up immense experience from playing against countries like Argentina."
