Middendorp issues hands-off warning over Billiat

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp says the club will not be selling Khama Billiat no matter what price they are offered for the star forward's services.

Billiat has been linked with a big-money move to Egyptian giants Al Ahly or even a return to Mamelodi Sundowns.

Reports suggested that Chiefs had already turned down an offer of R15 million from Al Ahly, but Middendorp has rubbished the claims, saying they have not had any approaches for the 28-year-old.

"I was never confronted with any offer or whatever. And there’s no way to give the go-ahead from the technical team in the moment to release players like Khama Billiat or other players," declared Middendorp.

"We are in front of a season, we have put a lot of thinking and strategies in place and at this time there is no way to move into a direction of saying, 'Khama Billiat can go because the money is coming in.' No, that’s very clear!”

Billiat has two more years left on his contract at Naturena, having penned a three-year extension with the Glamour Boys at the start of last season.
