Cape Town - Orlando Pirates head coach Milutin Sredojevic insists he is proud of his players despite being held to a goalless draw by SuperSport United on Wednesday.
The Buccaneers had an opportunity to close the gap on Premiership leaders Mamelodi Sundowns to a single point, but after the draw they remain three points adrift, while the Brazilians also have a game in hand.
Despite failing to beat Matsatsantsa, who are struggling near the bottom of the table, Sredojevic was pleased with his team's performance and didn't see it as a missed opportunity.
"We applied ourselves the way we agreed. Sometimes in football when you are not winning but inside us we are so happy with the face and body language of our players- they made us so proud," the Serbian coach told SuperSport TV.
"They respect the jersey. They did everything possible to win especially in the second half. We tried from the right and left angles to create chances, but we couldn’t enter.
"We are proud of the effort from the players. We shall pick up this point and look forward."
When asked about the points they dropped, the coach added: "For us, it doesn’t mean anything. We’re extremely happy with the performance of our team. We shall critically look at the things and focus on the next match on Sunday against AmaZulu, a good ball-playing team."
