Cape Town - Orlando
Pirates coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic believes his side executed his
game plan to perfection in the Telkom Knockout win over Golden Arrows
on Saturday.
Thabo Qalinge scored the only goal of the last-16 tie as the Buccaneers sent high-flying Abafana Bes'thende packing in the cup competition.
"It was a good game of football, proper competitive cup match. We played against a very good team who are second on the log in the PSL," Micho told SuperSport after the match.
"We came here with the aim to qualify through three strategic points; One, Instead of sitting back and defend, we wanted to take control of possession. I believe we dominated possession. I'm happy we qualified."
The goalscorer and man-of-the-match says the strict instructions from Micho has made life easier for them, after an indifferent campaign last season.
"We followed the instructions from the coach. Whatever he has been implementing we are applying it now. It's working for us," Qalinge said.
"We're looking at winning something for the supporters. My team-mates have been pushing me. They've been helping me improve my game. I'm trying to push as much as possible when I get a chance."
The Buccaneers will next face Polokwane City in the quarter-final of the cup competition in a home fixture.
