Micho confident Mulenga can boost Pirates

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic believes that Zambia forward Augustine Mulenga can kick on and hit the heights for Bucs after his goal against Bloemfontein Celtic.

Mulenga scored a stunning winner in last Wednesday's 2-1 Absa Premiership victory over Siwelele as he opened his account for the Sea Robbers, following his move from Zanaco.

Speaking after that victory which keeps Pirates in the race for the PSL title behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, Micho said: "I'm very happy for him, he decided the match with a wonderful strike.

"It is something that brought him this side and I know what he is capable of and I strongly believe that after a period of acclimatisation, the goal will inject him and help up his confidence and give us more in the next matches.

"With the experience that he has in the Champions League of Africa [with Zanaco], he brings it here. We have five [league] matches to go, let him feel like it's a final of a Champions League match.

"Let him enjoy being here and leave pressure on us for him to be able to express his talent to prove a point that he is at the right place.

"The five foreigners are the best we have and they are doing well and we are happy for them."

Pirates who are one point behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns in the Absa Premiership title race next face the struggling SuperSport United at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on April 11.

Kick-off is at 19:30.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
