Mhlongo apologises to Bucs faithful

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates assistant coach Benson Mhlongo has pleaded with fans to forgive the players after their humiliating display in the 6-0 thumping to Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Buccaneers faithful invaded the pitch as Masandawana ran riot thanks to solitary strikes from Themba Zwane and Ricardo Nascimento while Percy Tau and Thapelo Morena each bagged a brace.

The sixth goal sparked ugly scenes at Loftus Versfeld Stadium as both sets of fans invaded the pitch before police were called in to handle the visibly livid supporters.

"I think this season they [players] took a lot. We'll try and bring them back," he said after the game.

"We'll try to counsel them a little bit and help them to get through this tough time. That's our job and that's what we must do.

"Sorry to our supporters. We really, really say sorry. We apologise."
