Cape Town - Wiseman Meyiwa is content with his breakthrough season with Kaizer Chiefs, but wants to take his game to the next level next season.
The Chiefs development product made his Absa Premiership debut in the middle of September last year aged just 17 and marked it with a goal in a 2-0 win away at Cape Town City.
In total he has gone on to play in 14 league games and a further five cup matches, showing a maturity beyond his years while competing in central midfield.
The Pietermaritzburg-born player credited his team-mates for helping in settle in, and spoke of his desire to improve his game next season.
"My first season wasn't easy, but my teammates made me look good and helped me with a lot of stuff," Meyiwa told KickOff.
"Experienced players like Shabba [Siphiwe Tshabalala], Katsande, Maluleka, Rama [Ramahlwe Mphahlele], in fact, the whole team helped me.
"But I can say I'm happy because it was my first season, and I’m looking forward to the next season. I want to play all the games.
"Obviously, somewhere, somehow I need to improve. My strength is obviously my stamina, and next season I'd like to score long-range [goals].
"I'm disappointed that I didn't score more after my first goal against Cape Town City, but I think next season I will do better."
Meyiwa won't have another chance to score in Cape Town this weekend - Chiefs are away at Ajax on Saturday - as he is currently with the national U20 side, who are involved in a 2019 AFCON qualifier against Mozambique.
