Mere: Mabena did well for Dikwena

Cape Town - Platinum Stars captain Vuyo Mere insists team-mate Ndumiso Mabena deserves all the accolades after being named the club's Player of the Season.

Former Orlando Pirates striker Mabena netted 10 times in 25 league appearances to help Dikwena finish third in the Premiership standings.

He walked away with the Player of the Season, Players' Player of the Season and Star of the Season awards, and Mere believes there is still a lot more to come from the Bafana Bafana international.

"He did well for himself. You can tell by him being called up to the national team," Mere told Goal website. "His great work has been recognised. He has represented Platinum Stars and we are proud of him.

"Whatever he achieved this past season, he deserves it and we are happy he received all the accolades because he did really well for the team and himself. All the awards were well deserved.

"He is a good finisher. We still have more to see from him. He is still in his shell. He can come about a bit more. If he can perform the way he did consistently, he would have been nominated for a PSL award.

"We will still see the best of Mabena. If only he can keep his feet on the ground and remain level headed, we will still see a lot from him."
