Menzo: Sundowns will be out for revenge

Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town coach Stanley Menzo admits he is preparing his side for an onslaught from Mamelodi Sundowns in Pretoria on Tuesday night.

The Brazilians have discovered their best form of late and after three successive league wins they are just two points off the top of the table, and with games in hand.

Ajax had been in stuttering form, but have claimed four points from their last two matches to climb to within three points of the top eight.

The Cape side often reserve their best performances for the league's biggest clubs, and beat Sundowns 2-0 at home in the first round.

This is one of the reasons why Menzo says he'll adopt a cautious approach at the Loftus Stadium on Tuesday night.

"It will be very difficult if you see how they have won in their last three games‚" Menzo told TMG Digital.

"I think they'll also be looking for revenge after losing in Cape Town. We need to stay in the game as long as we can."

The Dutchman will be looking to his side to show character and guts on what promises to be a very challenging evening in Tshwane.

"It will be a mental thing to have the belief that we can match them and stay competitive. We are not a big top team but we can do much better than we have been doing."

"Let's hope our draw against Arrows in our last game gives us the push we need and we can continue that against Sundowns‚" Menzo added.

Kick off is at 19:30.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
