Menzo admits that Nxumalo has been AWOL

Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town coach Stanley Menzo says that striker Prince Nxumalo has been missing from training as speculation increases he is set to leave the club.

The Urban Warriors have struggled this season in front of goal and they slipped into the relegation zone after a 0-1 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs last weekend.

Yet Nxumalo has featured in only six league matches, starting only two of those, while scoring twice for the Urban Warriors.

After he failed to appear in the match-day squad against Amakhosi, Menzo admitted that the 27-year-old seems to be looking for a move away from the club.

"If you asked me honestly, I don't know where is Prince Nxumalo. Prince comes and he stays away for two days and nobody knows where he is. For me I can't work with the player like that. I don't know where he is," Menzo told the media in Durban.

Nxumalo has been linked with a move to Mamelodi Sundowns, while Bidvest Wits have also been mentioned as a possible destination for the 27-year-old.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
