Cape Town - Cape Town City coach Benni McCarthy says midfielder Teko Modise will be vital to the team, especially after the season ending injuries to Thabo Nodada and Roland Putsche.
Nodada and Putsche were both ruled out for the remainder of the season as City gun for their maiden PSL title - they sit five points behind leaders Wits but crucially have a game in hand.
The Cape Town club are also still in the Nedbank Cup where they take on Kaizer Chiefs in the quarter-finals.
After the injuries to their central midfielders, the Citizens signed former Ajax Cape Town captain Travis Graham on a free transfer but McCarthy insists Modise will be the key.
The former Orlando Pirates and Sundowns general is now a veteran a 36 but McCarthy feels he can still get the best out of him.
The Cape Town City mentor said in quotes published by the SowetanLive: "Teko, you have to manage him because at the moment he is one of the best players we have and if we lose him, on top of Nodada and Putsche, then I need to go there to Jerusalem to pray for serious help!
"I don't see how we would survive without Teko for where we want to be as a team."
City face a make or break 10 days as they take on Sundowns home and away and also visit Bidvest Wits on Saturday.
