Mbesuma handed Aces armband

Cape Town - Mpumalanga Black Aces coach Mushin Ertugral has confirmed that Collins Mbesuma will assume the leadership role at the club on a permanent basis.

The Zambian striker has been a critical cog in the Black Aces machine this season, having breached opposition defences on six occasions during the current campaign.

Mbesuma is also one of the team veterans and has even been recognized as the best player in the league during the months of September and October. However, the Black Aces coach is confident that his star forward can shoulder more responsibility.

"For us we have also given him the responsibility to lead the team as a captain," Ertugral told KickOff.

"With the vast experience that he has, all the possibilities staring him and the person that he is we believe he is the ideal guy for us to be a captain and lead the team. He is officially the captain now," added Ertugral.

Mbesuma holds the record for scoring the most League goals (25) in a single PSL season, and is also closing in on reaching 100 goals playing for a South African club.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
