Mbekile excited for first league medal

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundown defender Asavela Mbekile is delighted to have won his first league title after the Brazilians were crowned Premiership champions last week.

Mbekile was still at Moroka Swallows when Pitso Mosimane led Sundowns to top-flight honours back in 2013.

The 29-year-old confessed he cannot wait to have the winners' medal around his neck on the final day of the season.

"This is my first league medal with Sundowns because the time they won it two seasons ago, I was with Moroka Swallows," Mbekile told Goal website.

"It's a great feeling but it hasn't sunk in yet. Maybe it will sink in on the 21st of May when we play our last game of the season and when we lift the trophy.

"When I get to touch it myself that's when it will maybe sink in that I have won the league. It feels great to have won my first professional league medal."
