Mbatha looking forward to next season

Cape Town - Following his contract renewal with the club, Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Lindokuhle Mbatha is now looking forward to making his mark in the 2016/17 campaign.

Mbatha joined the Brazilians from Platinum Stars in 2014, but was released on loan to Mpumalanga Black Aces, after only managing 10 appearances for Pitso Mosimane's side in his one-and-a-half seasons at Chloorkop.

The 29-year-old winger is hoping to stay injury free upon his return to the club, as he plans to fight for a place in the Absa Premiership champions' starting line-up.

"I obviously had a renewal option and I exercised it because I believe I still have a lot to offer the club," Mbatha told Goal website.

"I think with a few games that I played and upon my return to Sundowns for pre-season, I am crossing fingers that I do not go through the same thing I went through last season.

"I was very unfortunate last season because I got injured during pre-season, and I believe that was the reason I did not feature for the club."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
