Cape Town - Mark Mayambela says
confidence is very high in the Chippa United camp and the midfielder is
confident they can reach the top eight at the end of the season.
The Chilli Boys have been flirting close to the relegation zone for
most of the season but have seen an upturn in fortunes since Clinton
Larsen took over as coach at the start of this year.
The PE-based side have won four of their last five games in all
competitions and Mayambela feels the senior players in the side, like
himself, still need to step up when required.
Mayambela told Kickoff website: "As a team we're getting better and better, the confidence is very high, we are hungry for more wins.
"As senior players it's very important to help the team, we are committed to making sure Coach Larsen is well protected.
"It's our responsibility to keep the momentum in the team, working with him of course."
Chippa have another chance to move further away from the drop zone
when they host Golden Arrows at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Friday
Mayambela knows it will bea tough encounter against Steve Komphela's
charges but he has his eyes on higher honours for Chippa at the end of
The former Orlando Pirates player continued: "We know what coach
Steve has done this season, we are well aware of his team. As Chippa we
want to close the gap to the top eight."
