Matshitse: Chiefs fans won't be happy

Cape Town - Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Peter Matshitse insists Amakhosi supporters won't be happy with just a top-four finish this season.

The Soweto giants have failed to defend both their Premiership and MTN8 titles. Chiefs find themselves having to battle it out with Platinum Stars, Black Aces and Orlando Pirates in a bid to finish in a respectable position with just three games remaining.

"I don't think the supporters will be happy with that [top-four finish]. I think they were eyeing the league," Matshitse told Goal website.

"Two months ago, they were eyeing the league so the way things have gone, I don't think the supporters will be happy with just finishing in the top four.

"To make matters worse is the fact that they will finish the season without any silverware and you know how Kaizer Chiefs supporters are.

"They believe that the club should have something in the cabinet every year. It's been like that. It's like a norm for the club but now this time they won't have anything it's going to be a problem for Steve {Komphela]."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
