Matsatsantsa explain Pirates venue switch

Cape Town - SuperSport United have explained why the club moved Tuesday's Absa Premiership encounter against Orlando Pirates from the Lucas Moripe Stadium to the Mbombela Stadium.

Matsatsantsa will now face Pirates in Nelspruit rather than the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville.

The 2010 Soccer World Cup stadium is an alternate venue for Matsatsantsa, and Stuart Baxter's side will also play Bidvest Wits at the same location at the end of November.

United spokesperson David Skhosane revealed why they will no longer be taking games exclusively to the Peter Mokaba Stadium, as has been the case up until now.

"You must remember we were using Peter Mokaba Stadium as our alternative venue. There are now two teams in Polokwane and it doesn't make sense," he told KickOff.

"Going to Mbombela is part of our mission to take the game to people and promote our brand in Mpumalanga.

"This is also good for the people of Mpumalanga as they no longer have Black Aces and they deserve to be exposed to Premiership football."

Tuesday's clash between United and Pirates gets under way from 19:30 in Nelspruit.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
