Mathoho's Chiefs contract clarified

Cape Town - Eric Mathoho's agent has clarified the erroneous assumptions that the Kaizer Chiefs defender will be a free agent next month.

It was reported earlier this week that Mathoho's contract with the Glamour Boys was set to expire at the end of June.

Football agent Tim Sukazi has clarified that his client has one more year remaining on his Chiefs deal.

"His contract comes up on the 30th of June 2017, not now. There is nothing further to that at this moment and in any case, a contract of a player like that cannot expire easily," Sukazi told The Sowetan.

Sukazi admits that he wants to secure a move abroad for Mathoho, but denied links with French Ligue 1 club Monaco.

"We are trying hard to get him abroad, but my trip to Monaco had nothing to do with football. It is business as usual in terms of trying to get him abroad. We believe he is ready," he said.
