Mathoho will not be leaving Chiefs, says agent

Cape Town - Injury prone Kaizer Chiefs central defender Eric Mathoho will not be leaving the club says his agent Basia Michaels of Quality Talent Sports.

Mathoho's fortunes have declined in the past two seasons as he has made just 19 league appearances, including just four in 2018/19.

The centre-back suffered an injury-ridden campaign and was unable to reach full fitness in order to make an impact on the field of play on a consistent basis.

Michaels told Goal: "Tower is still contracted to Chiefs and will not be leaving.

"From what I know at this moment, nothing has been communicated with me from Chiefs' side."

Since arriving at Naturena in 2012/13, Mathoho has proved to be a solid performer forming a major part of Stuart Baxter's team which enjoyed so much success from 2012 until 2015.

However, advancing age and injuries have meant doubts have been cast about the 29 year old's long term future at Naturena.

The player's contract is set to expire in June 2020 next year.
