Masutha eyes Cosmos’ scalp

Vosloorus - Ahead of their crucial clash against Jomo Cosmos, Black Leopards interim coach Joel Masutha believes that the only weapon to overcome Ezinkosi will be to dominate ball possession for the most duration of the game.

Cosmos will welcome Lidoda Duvha at the Vosloorus stadium for an eagerly anticipated PSL/NFD relegation and promotional play-off on Sunday.

Heading to this encounter, the Thohoyandou based side are coming from an impressive 1-0 triumph over Platinum Stars and Masutha is well aware that Cosmos will provide a different ball game.

”Yes Cosmos play a different ball game compared to Platinum Stars. We’re going there with the aim to control the game and maintain the possession,” Masutha insisted.

“That would result in them (Cosmos) chasing the ball and by keeping the ball away from them it’ll prevent them from scoring. That’s what we’re looking at.”

Leopards currently tops the mini-log table following their victory over Stars and a win over Cosmos will put them in a pole position to reclaim their top flight football status, but “The Prophet” as Masutha is affectionately known said they are not getting carried away yet.

“We’re currently in a good position but we’re not counting chickens before they hatch. We just want to take it one game at a time because we still have a long way to go.”

The major boost for Lidoda Duvha will be the return of lethal Zambian striker Mwape Musonda who missed the opening game against Dikwena during the week.

Kick-off is scheduled for 15:00.
