Cape Town - Kaizer
Chiefs defender Tsepo Masilela says that the team will miss the
presence of Eric Mathoho for their Premiership encounter against Ajax
Cape Town.
The Soweto giants will look to extend their unbeaten run in the league to four games with a victory over the Cape-based side, and despite being well-prepared for the tie, Masilela says Chiefs will miss Tower due Ajax's aerial-threat.
"We have prepared well. However, teams always bring their A-game when facing us and Ajax will do the same," he told the club's official website.
"We need to stop these crosses from coming into the box. We will definitely miss Tower," he added.
When asked about Komphela's decision to bench him in favour of new signing Sibusiso Khumalo in recent games, the 31-year-old cited winning as the main objective, in addition to commenting on Chiefs' position in the league standings.
"There is always competition for places in a top side. I will wait for my chance. But what’s important is that the team comes first. The team is winning and that’s what we all want.
"Of course, we would like to stay there, but it’s still early days. Besides that, Mamelodi Sundowns have, for example, only played one league match so far," he added.
Amakhosi face Ajax in Durban at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, with the game being scheduled for 18:00.
