Masilela targets winning streak

Johannesburg - Veteran left back Tsepo Masilela believes Kaizer Chiefs need 26 points from the next 10 league matches to stay in contention for Premiership title.

Steve Komphela's, charges who clinched their fourth league victory in a row by beating Maritzburg United last Saturday, will look to keep the momentum going when hosting Highlands Park in a crucial Premiership clash at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

"It may be premature to talk about challenging the league title for now, but the fact is that we are currently amongst the contenders and are aiming to win silverware this season," he told Vodacom Soccer.

"So, to keep up with other title contenders means we need to be consistent until to the end, because title contention is a marathon.

"Our level of confidence is high and we are ready to take on any opposition, but at the same time we realise an importance of treating every team we face with equal importance, irrespective of their position on the log table.

"Every team is now fighting for vital points, and there is no easy game at all at this stage of the season.

"For us the next 10 league games will be the crucial ones, and with 13 games to go I think probably 26 points in 10 games will be essential for us to consolidate our position amongst the log leaders," he concluded.
