Cape Town - Calvin Marlin has departed Cape Town City to join up with new Ajax Cape Town head coach Muhsin Ertugral at the Urban Warriors.
Last week Ertugral was appointed as Ajax coach for the fourth time after Stanley Menzo was sacked.
Menzo's former right-hand man Boebie Solomons will now make way for Marlin, who was head-hunted by Ertugral.
The 41-year-old Marlin previously had a spell at Ajax as a goalkeeper between 1999 and 2003 and also worked with Ertugral on the Black Aces technical team (Aces were later sold to form Cape Town City, where Marlin has spent the last 18 months).
He also represented SuperSport United, Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana during his playing days.
"Once Muhsin got the job he got in touch with me straight away and I was immediately intrigued," Marlin told the Ajax website.
"I thought about it for a couple of minutes and decided it's an opportunity I can't pass up on.
"This is a great opportunity for me to grow as an individual and I am confident we can get the team back to its best and playing with pride and passion.
"This is a big jump for me, but having worked with Muhsin at Aces I know what is expected from me. I want to learn and grow as a coach and this is the perfect platform.
"Muhsin wants the best 24/7, there is no quarter given and he has shown in the past that he can inspire a quick turnaround in fortunes."
