6 wins on the trot for SuperSport as they easily beat Martizburg

Cape Town - SuperSport United extended their unbeaten run to six games as goals from Kudakwashe Mahachi and Sipho Mbule secured a 2-0 victory over Maritzburg United at Harry Gwala Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The first noteworthy chance of the game arrived after just four minutes as SuperSport earned a free-kick on the edge of the box, but the resulting shot on goal from Aubrey Modiba was comfortably snapped up by Richard Ofori in the Maritzburg goal.

However, they weren't to be denied in the 12th minute as Kudakwashe Mahachi pounced inside the box to slot the ball into the bottom-right corner.

Maritzburg came close to bagging an equaliser ten minutes later, but Bandile Shandu was unable to find a way past Ronwen Williams, with the goalkeeper snapping up the ball at the second attempt.

At the opposite end of the pitch, Ofori was called into action again in the 37th minute as he easily gathered a tame effort by Modiba.

There was one last chance as the first half drew to a close, with Maritzburg pushing hard for an equaliser. However, the chance came to nothing as Judas Moseamedi saw his shot blocked by the defence before being cleared upfield.

After a cautious start to the second half, the chances came thick and fast at both ends of the pitch.

Maritzburg's Daniel Morgan smashed a powerful effort over the bar in the 53rd minute, before SuperSport's Jamie Webber fired wide of the right-hand post on the half-volley.

Moseamedi again went close to snatching an equaliser a couple of minutes later, but his shot was easily gathered by Williams.

But it was SuperSport who would go on to net the game's next goal in the 73rd minute, Sipho Mbule finding the bottom-right corner with a superb shot from outside the box.

And Maritzburg were unable to recover from that setback as SuperSport saw out the remaining minutes with relative ease to claim all three points on offer.
