Maritzburg United sign striker from Chicken Inn

Cape Town - Maritzburg United have completed the signing of Zimbabwe striker Clive Augusto, from Chicken Inn the club confirmed on Monday.

The 26-year-old Augusto comes highly recommended as he was the top-scorer in the Zimbabwean PSL last season, hitting 14 goals for Chicken Inn FC.

Maritzburg said in a statement: "OFFICIAL: The club has completed the signing of Zimbabwean, striker Clive Augusto.

"Augusto arrives from Chicken Inn where he was the leading goal scorer in Zimbabwean top-flight football with 14 goals to his name."

Augusto becomes the second Zimbabwean signing at the club following the arrival of Gabriel Nyoni, who was snapped up just before the start of the season.

Team of Choice coach Eric Tinkler will hope his new forward will help his team score some goals as they have not had the best of starts to the current campaign.

Maritzburg lost their opening league match to Golden Arrows before drawing against Highlands Park at home.

They will hope to get their first victory of the season when they take on newly-promoted Stellenbosch FC away on Sunday.
