Absa Premiership side Maritzburg United have ended speculation over the future of in-form goalkeeper Richard Ofori.
Media reports suggested the highly-rated Ghana shotstopper was headed to Orlando Pirates, along with Team of Choice defender Rushine De Reuck at the end of the season.
Maritzburg chairperson Farook Kadodia explained though that the club would be stupid to not have exercised their option in their contract to renew his deal.
He told the Sowetan: "As a businessman, you have to take your options on a player like Ofori, if you don't do that then you are stupid.
"Ofori has been good to us since he arrived here and now we have shown our appreciation."
The 26-year-old had been excellent this season for Maritzburg, helping the club to fifth place in the league standings ahead of the enforced break as a result of the coronavirus.
