Cape Town - Maritzburg United management has promised substantial bonuses if they emerge successfully from their Absa Premiership promotion/relegation playoff.
Maritzburg United are in a strong position in the playoff group, which also includes Royal Eagles and Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhadila FC.
United top the group on six points with two wins from two games, while Eagles and TT Mads have three points apiece despite both playing a game more.
There are two fixtures left, both involving the Team of Choice so a victory in either one of them would secure their top-flight status for another season.
"The players were promised R50 000 each if they survived automatic relegation," an anonymous source told to KickOff.
"Maritzburg United also promised coach Eric Tinkler a huge bonus if he helps the club survive relegation" the source reveals to KickOff.com.
It would be a truly remarkable feat for the club who were rooted to the foot of the table for a large portion of the season before Tinkler took over in January and started to turn things around.
