Cape Town - Maritzburg United coach Ernst Middendorp says that their fate in their own hands and are still very much in the race to save their top flight status.
United are on the brink of relegation and would need to win both of their final fixtures to have a chance of remaining in the Absa Premiership.
According to SuperSport, Middendorp admits that they will have to be well prepared against Ajax Cape Town in their upcoming tie.
"I always said the last two to three games would be crucial and we had a clear ambition to get three points off Pirates. It was close and I was happy with our structure and strategy, which worked. There were some moments when we could have won the game but we didn’t score."
“But you can see fire, spirit and desire exists in this team and that is what we will need to save ourselves ultimately. It’s only the second time since January that we haven’t score a goal in a match.”
“We will have to be well prepared against Ajax and go into the game with the same passion and desire like we showed against Pirates and capitalise on our chances in the box. Ajax have speed and pace but I think we are able to handle that as we showed against Pirates,” added Middendorp.
