Maritzburg confirm Makgalwa loan from Sundowns

Cape Town - Maritzburg United have confirmed the signing of Keletso Makgalwa from Mamelodi Sundowns on a season-long loan as part of the deal which saw Lebohang Maboe move the other way.

The 21-year-old is one of two Masandawana attackers to move to the Team of Choice, but 27-year-old Ivorian Yannick Zakri has reportedly seen his arrival delayed by visa issues.

Maritzburg finished an impressive fourth in last season's Premiership, but have gotten the 2018/19 campaign off to a disappointing start, losing 2-0 to Golden Arrows on Sunday.

On Makgalwa, coach Fadlu Davids was quoted by the club's official website as saying: "He is definitely the kind of player that will fit in here. He is what we require after losing a player like Lebo.

"He impressed after a few training sessions. Managed to work well with our players, so it is an addition that will add value to the squad."

The KZN outfit claim that Makgalwa is set to make his debut against Cape Town City in their MTN8 quarter-final clash at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Sunday.

"It is now about getting him fully fit," said Davids. "Hopefully he will be ready to play by the weekend in the cup. I would say that he is 50/50."
