Promising midfielder Grant Margeman says he kept his focus after missing out on a move to Mamelodi Sundowns in 2018.
The 21-year-old has reportedly been on Downs' radar for a number of years although a move previously failed to materialise.
But the Ajax Cape Town midfielder has now secured a deal and will link up with the club ahead of next season.
He was in fact signed at the beginning of the 2019/20 Absa Premiership season and loaned back to Ajax, without the deal being announced.
For now his focus remains on helping the Urban Warriors secure their promotion back to the Absa Premiership - if action is able to resume once the lockdown as a result of the coronavirus ends.
Speaking to Soccer Laduma, Margeman explained how he secured his Sundowns contract.
He said: "Sundowns wanted me from early 2018, but I don’t know why the deal didn’t happen then. Maybe there was no agreement between the two clubs...I don’t know...and I didn't want to even bother asking about it.
"I just wanted to concentrate on playing football and let the people who had to do the negotiations carry on with them. I did not want it to disturb me.
"The deal was only successful at the start of the season and I was loaned out to Ajax CT. That is all I know."
