Marcelo is like a sponge, says Micho

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic believes Brazilian defender Caio Marcelo Da Silva will be an asset as he is receptive to coaching and taking instructions.

Da Silva (known as Marcelo), who was signed by the Sea Robbers ahead of 2018/19 from Brazilian fourth division side Nova Iguacu Football Club, played his second match for Bucs in central defence in the 1-1 draw with AmaZulu last Saturday.

Previously the left-footed 20-year-old made his debut against Golden Arrows at left-back. Speaking to reporters, Sredojevic said: “In any team in the world there's this dream of having the perfect balance.

“The perfect balance is to have a centre-back with the left-footer on that side.

“He's got a very good personality. I need to give credit to our players for accommodating him in the best possible way. With everything that he has, he has huge space to improve and to develop.

“Day by day, he's like a sponge you know. The sponge is absorbing fast and improving. He's still very far from his best.

“But having said that, we have trust and confidence, and believe that he'll reach his full potential and he'll be an asset to our team.”
