Manyisa and Memela to miss SSU clash

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates have confirmed that Oupa Manyisa and Luvuyo Memela will not feature in the Absa Premiership tie against SuperSport United on Tuesday.

The midfield duo missed the Buccaneers' goalless draw against arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday due to stomach cramps.

A statement on the club's official website has revealed that the two players will not make the trip to the Mbombela Stadium to face Stuart Baxter's charges.

"Captain Oupa Manyisa and Luvuyo Memela, have not travelled with the squad as they are still recovering from a severe case of stomach cramps," the statement read.

"These are the same cramps which saw both players miss the Soweto Derby clash against Kaizer Chiefs at the weekend.

"Although, Memela who was initially included in the starting eleven despite struggling with cramps the night before also missed out after withdrawing during the team’s warm up."

The club further provided injury updates to Gladwin Shitolo, Nkosinathi Mthiyane, Ayanda Nkosi and goalkeeper Siyabonga Mpontshane - all of whom are said to be progressing relatively well from their respective injuries.

"According to the medical report Gladwin Shitolo and Nkosinathi Mthiyane have been cleared and can start training with the rest of the squad," the club said in a statement.

"For Shitolo, who has been out since picking up an injury in a friendly match against Royal Eagles during pre-season, it’s a welcome return and he will surely be eager to get back to action.

"Striker Ayanda Nkosi is still receiving treatment on a hamstring strain he suffered two weeks ago. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation and is expected to return to full training in a couple of days.

"Goalkeeper, Siyabonga Mpontshane is also undergoing rehabilitation and making good recovery. He is currently on an individual training programme with the biokineticist."

Kick-off is at 19:30.
