Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs have announced the departure of Edward Manqele after agreeing the cancellation of his contract with the Premiership club via mutual consent.
The much-maligned striker struggled to make an impact during his stint with the Glamour Boys, scoring only a single goal in 23 appearances over the past season and a half.
After being transfer listed in the off-season, the decision comes as no surprise as both parties agreed it's in everyone's best interests to part ways.
"Manqele was transfer listed at the end of last season but was not signed," Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung told the club's official website.
"After speaking we agreed it was best to release him so he can find a new home and continue his football career."
The 29-year-old has scored 24 goals in 94 league games since making his top-flight debut for Free State Stars.
