Maluleka: We are one team with one philosophy

The Kaizer Chiefs squad strength was highlighted when a much-changed side from the one which beat Cape Town City recorded a convincing victory over Free State Stars on Tuesday.

Having earned their first league win of the season in style with a 4-1 thumping of the Citizens on Saturday, Amakhosi coach Giovanni Solinas made seven changes to the starting side he put out against Ea Lla Koto in Bethlehem as he looked to keep his players fresh during a busy period of fixtures.

Solinas got the perfect response from his charges as goals from Gustavo Paez and Philani Zulu capped a fine performance from the Soweto giants in their 2-0 victory over Stars.

Debuts were handed to Mario Booysen, Godfrey Walusimbi and Andriamirado Andrianarimanana, while George Maluleka made his first start of the season and went on to win the Man of the Match award.

Maluleka underlined the team spirit in the camp and pointed out the depth in the squad the Glamour Boys are enjoying.

"It's been quite a while, about three months or so," he said after the match.

"I've been working my way back. The guys have been motivating me making sure that always I'm in good hands. I'm very proud of the boys and I'm grateful with the amount of effort they put in.

"With the team that we have there's a lot of quality and we have a lot to offer. It's been a difficult three years or, so we want to make sure that we make things right this season.

"There is a lot to offer you can see the team was changed - the other guys were given a rest because of the game on Saturday. But we came out to show that we're one team and there's one philosophy we followed it."

Next up for Chiefs is a league encounter against AmaZulu at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 18:00.
