Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Maluleka breathed a sigh of relief after Amakhosi claimed their first Premiership win of the season on Wednesday.
Chiefs scrape to a narrow 1-0 win over top-flight rookies Highlands Pakr courtesy of a George Lebese penalty kick in the 65th minute.
The Soweto giants were desperate for a victory after starting their season with two losses and a draw.
Luck was on their side after being awarded a dubious penalty when Auguston Leonard appeared to foul William Twala on the edge of the box.
"I think the difference was the chance that we got, we managed to put it away," Maluleka told SuperSport.
"It was a penalty but nonetheless we created it, and we fought together as a team. We fought together till the end.
"I just want to thank the technical team and my teammates for supporting each other. You know it's been a very difficult stage for us.
"But getting back to the game, it was very important for us to make sure we stay compact at first, not to concede goals. We knew we would create a lot of chances at goal, and luckily we got one today."
