Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Maluleka insists the doubters help motivate the team as they aim to clinch the Absa Premiership title this season.
Amakhosi were far off the pace last season as they finished in ninth place but they have confounded critics this campaign and sit at the top of the standings with a nine-ponit lead over defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
Many have downplayed Chiefs' position on the table, implying that the Soweto giants wouldn't be able to maintain their strong run of results.
However, Chiefs continue collecting the points and Maluleka says it doesn't bother the players in the least when people cast doubt over their title challenge.
"For us, it's very good [that people doubt us]. A lot of people try to put us under a lot of pressure, but we’ve actually taken it very well," said Maluleka, according to KickOff.
"We always say it's Kaizer Chiefs vs the whole PSL in every game that we play, but we're playing very well and we haven't changed anything, we're playing our own game.
"We're not panicking, and it's because we're focused on the particular game that we face in front of us, and we want to make sure that we don't put too much pressure on ourselves.
"We know what we’re capable of, so we trust and believe that each game that we win, we give ourselves a good opportunity of being one step closer [to lifting the title]."
