Malesela to plug defensive holes

Cape Town - Chippa United coach Dan Malesela has promised that the club will soon announce replacement signings for the four defenders that have departed the club.

Chippa had already seen Zimbabwean defender Eric Chipeta sign a pre-contract agreement with Ajax Cape Town last season, and have now parted ways with another three defenders, according to Malesela.

"We have lost James [Okwuosa], we have lost Maponyane - Walter Maponyane is going to Polokwane. We have lost mostly defenders. [Nkosinathi] Mthiyane to Pirates...those are the major players we have lost," he explained to the Goal.com website.

But the Chilli Boys tactician says that new signings are imminent.

"I am trying to beef up the defence, but I think we will announce a few signings after the meeting [on Tuesday]. We have made signings, but until I am given the official go-ahead I can't reveal which transfers we have completed," Malesela added.
