Malesela laments poor defence

Cape Town - Chippa United coach Daniel Malesela concedes that his team's defence was horrendous in the 3-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns on Tuesday evening.

The Chilli Boys were on the receiving end of a spanking after Leonardo Castro, Teko Modise and Khama Billiat scored in a one-sided first half.

The flat-footed Chippa defence could do little to stop the blistering Sundowns attack at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

"We started well but broke down after we conceded the first goal. That turned this game," Malesela told KickOff.

"Although we could still do something, we again conceded and that made things worse. Our marking was horrible, especially the man-marking.

"Anybody who is free, he can do anything with the ball. If you don't put pressure on them they will be able do that.

"Even if you play me and say 'here you are', every time I am free I will be able to find somebody and pass, even at my age.

"What's more, with these youngsters and with the talented ones at Sundowns, if you give them a chance to play they will kill you."
