Makaab: Gyimah to Wits imminent

Cape Town - Bidvest Wits are set to sign Ghana international midfielder Edwin Gyimah over the coming days according to his agent Mike Makaab. 

Gyimah, 26, is currently a free-agent and has been training with the Clever Boys over the past two weeks in order to regain fitness. 

The defensive midfielder, who is also comfortable at centre-back, is poised for a return to the Premiership after six months in Sweden with Helsingborgs IF. 

Having spent six years in South Africa with SuperSport United, Mpumalanga Black Aces and Orlando Pirates, the Students are keen to add his experience to their relegation-threatened squad. 

“He is likely to sign with Wits. We are still in talks with them and there are finer details that we need to sort out,” Makaab told IOL. 

Despite being reigning Champions, Gavin Hunt's side is set to undergo a squad overhaul in January with Gyimah and striker Lehlohonolo Majoro the first of several new additions. 

Serbian Defender Slavko Damjanovic has already been released after less than six months in Braamfontein and veteran midfielder Steven Pienaar is also reportedly set for an exit.
