Cape Town - Bidvest Wits are set to sign Ghana international midfielder
Edwin Gyimah over the coming days according to his agent Mike Makaab.
Gyimah, 26, is currently a free-agent and has been training
with the Clever Boys over the past two weeks in order to regain fitness.
The defensive midfielder, who is also comfortable at
centre-back, is poised for a return to the Premiership after six months in
Sweden with Helsingborgs IF.
Having spent six years in South Africa with SuperSport
United, Mpumalanga Black Aces and Orlando Pirates, the Students are keen to add
his experience to their relegation-threatened squad.
“He is likely to sign with Wits. We are still in talks with
them and there are finer details that we need to sort out,” Makaab told IOL.
Despite being reigning Champions, Gavin Hunt's side is set
to undergo a squad overhaul in January with Gyimah and striker Lehlohonolo
Majoro the first of several new additions.
Serbian Defender Slavko Damjanovic has already been released
after less than six months in Braamfontein and veteran midfielder Steven
Pienaar is also reportedly set for an exit.
