Mahlangu joins Benni at STVV

Cape Town - Bafana Bafana midfielder May Mahlangu has signed for Belgian Pro-League outfit Sint-Truidense VV, the club has confirmed.

According to the club’s official website, the 26-year-old underwent a medical and is an official Sint-Truidense player.

"STVV has just signed a contract with the South African international May Mahlangu," said the statement on the club’s website.

"The 26-year-old central midfielder passed earlier today for medical tests and is now officially a Canary.

"Mahlangu has been in Europe since 2008 when he joined Helsingborg in Sweden and played in the Europa League.

"Afterwards, he also played in Gothenburg and at the Turkish club Konyaspor. Mahlangu is said to prefer the sporting challenge at STVV over a number of lucrative deals abroad. A contract was signed for the current season."

Mahlangu joins legendary retired Bafana Bafana striker Benni McCarthy, who is the current assistant coach at Sint-Truidense.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
