Cape Town - Former Bloemfontein Celtic captain John Maduka has given some advice to the Phunya Sele Sele players ahead of their Kaizer Chiefs encounter.
According to Celtic’s official website, Maduka says that he recalls the old battles against Amakhosi in his playing days.
“Celtic’s game against Kaizer Chiefs have for years produced sparkling performances and the atmosphere experienced even days before the game forces players to be upbeat and ready to contest," Maduka said.
“I recall one cup game we played against them during the era of Paul Dolezer as our coach.
“There was fierce battle on and off the field, after we scored the winning goal their supporters started removing seats with anger and clearly, they hate losing to us.”
Maduka agrees that this weekend’s game will be entertaining and urges the Celtic players not to be afraid.
“The odds are stacked against us, looking at the stats but the positive sprit reigning in our camp since the arrival of Serame Letsoaka gives me confidence.
“My advice to our players is to relax and play their usually pressing game without fear. Showing respect to a team like Chiefs will work against you.
“Wishing them all the best for this must win encounter.”
Celtic hosts Chiefs at the Free State Stadium and the game kicks-off at 15:00.
