Madlala wishes Pirates best of luck

Cape Town - As Orlando Pirates prepare for their journey to the return leg of the CAF Confederations Cup final in Tunisia, PSL Acting CEO Mato Madlala has backed them to beat Etoile du Sahel this coming weekend.

The clubs played to a 1-1 draw in front of a packed Orlando Stadium on Saturday night. Madlala, however, said Orlando Pirates can return triumphant.

"On behalf of the clubs and our members, we would like to wish Orlando Pirates the best of luck in the CAF Confederations Cup match in Tunisia," she said.

"We know it is not going to be easy for them but they have shown a resilient fighting spirit throughout this campaign. I’m therefore confident that they can come back home with the trophy.”

Madlala said it is important for PSL clubs to do well in continental championships.

"As the PSL, we have done well in establishing a strong league financially. What we need now is to be competitive and dominant with our football within the African continent.

"We must support our clubs playing in CAF competitions. I know this is something very close to the heart of the PSL chairman, Dr Khoza and the Executive Committee."

The match is scheduled for Sunday, November 29.

Kick-off is at 16:00 (SA time).
