Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Tiyani Mabunda has urged his teammates not to dwell on their MTN8 final heartache and focus on the CAF Champions League final.
Sundowns were hammered 3-0 by Wits in the top eight cup final after two goals from Daine Klate and a strike from Eleazar Rodgers on Saturday.
Mabunda hopes the debilitating defeat does not haunt the Brazilians in the CAF final first-leg against Zamalek on October 15.
"I hope it doesn't affect us. It's painful to lose especially a cup final and it's not easy to accept defeat," Mabunda told KickOff.
"But we've to learn from it, correct our mistakes and look at the positives that came out from this game and use it for the next game.
"I think the best way to respond in the situation that we've been through now is to win. We need to do that so we can gain confidence, we should find a way of standing up and dusting ourselves off and look forward to the game.
"It is quite a difficult one to accept, but we've got to soldier on. We are footballers, we are at work and we need to do what is required from us.
"Few days ago, we were the best team in the country. I think we just need to dust ourselves up and move on to the next game and do better than what we did against Wits."
