Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns forward Lebohang Maboe says he is targeting the Absa Premiership Footballer of the Season prize after a good start to his career with the Brazilians.
Maboe joined the 2016 African champions from Maritzburg United ahead of 2018/19 and has already become a first team regular under coach Pitso Mosimane, making seven starts and scoring two goals.
In addition, he has started to establish himself as a Bafana Bafana international with the 24-year-old scoring three goals in the COSAFA Cup last June.
As such, the player revealed he has every intention of trying to become South Africa's best player domestically during the current campaign.
He told reporters: "It's one of the goals that I would say every player is looking to achieve. You have to set goals and it's one of the goals I have set for myself. You see now I am taking out my secrets.
"But either way it's one of the goals I set for myself. I just have to be consistent in my performances and see what happens at the end of the season. I need to be clinical in front of goal and make the right decisions in the final third.
"Right now I am with Mamelodi Sundowns and I am looking forward to winning as many trophies with the team as I can."
